God’s Protection

How much more must Jesus do?

Scripture: And now, O Israel, what does the Lord your God ask of you but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to observe the Lord’s commands and decrees that I am giving you today for your own good?
Deuteronomy 10:12-13 NIV
Scripture: Circumcise your hearts, therefore, and do not be stiff-necked any longer.  For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who shows no partiality and accepts no bribes.  Deuteronomy 10:16-17 NIV

If time permits today read Deuteronomy Chapters 10-12

Observation: How many times and how many ways does our loving Heavenly Father have to speak his wish for our life.  He shows us throughout the Old Testament and repeatedly through the life of his son Jesus Christ by example and word. Finally, he sacrifices his son Jesus in a violent way to repair the relationship WE ruined through sin.  Sadly sin still blinds us from seeing and communicating intimately with him.   All of his “commands” are for our protection.  Yet we are like a moth to fire, we just can’t stay away from sin.  And so we get burned and scared over and over.

Application: We must ask ourselves some tough questions.  We must look at his commands, all of them. How do they apply to me? How can I live them out? Go ahead, question the why behind each of his commands. Listen to his reason because he always tells us what affect our behavior will have in our life and those around us.  It is his his desire for us to live a life full of love, prosperity, integrity and honor.  All of these attributes can only be seen in a life lived out for Christ.  We must daily go back to God’s principles, surrendering ourselves to his will with the knowledge of the safety found there.  Then we will find the power, through the Holy Spirit, to resist Satan and the traps he lays out for us.

Prayer: Lord, I pray for your protection in my life.  Without you as my guide I will fall.  Lord, I surrender to you, not my way but yours.  I pray Lord, that just the right child of yours would find this writing and see that your word and commands are a loving father’s guidance and that you want all of your children to know you intimately.  Amen
