You don’t get visitation rights with Jesus. He is not some estranged child that we only get to see on Sunday. But that’s how we do church in a 21st century culture. We expect God to show up and visit us at the predetermined time at the predetermined place.
“And in Him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by His Spirit.” Ephesians 2:22
A habitation is quite different from a visitation. Face it, we are doing church all wrong! We have concentrated on getting God to show up in our precious white washed sepulchers when He just wants to abide with US. Jesus said, “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.” I would much rather have the power residing within me every moment of every day than just hoping for a housewarming gift on visitation day.
“If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.” John 15:7
Now think about when we do gather together it is a celebration of Him dwelling in us and a sharing of how He is changing us daily refining us. A telling of how He is using us! Our Sundays or whatever day we join together becomes a powerful experience, a place where those lost and hurting can receive through an anointed outpouring of the Holy Ghost! Church becomes God’s hospital!
A few of these words came from a good friend who loves Jesus. Thank you Curtis Dunning.
