Be Meek, Not Weak

Scripture: Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. Matthew 5:5 NIV

Observation: Here Jesus teaches the beatitudes to the five thousand. In his sermon he speaks of the meek. Not the weak; the meek. I believe that the meek are humble in spirit. They follow and share Christ, no matter the cost while they strongly hold to their faith and beliefs. They are not fence-sitters; they are decisive and they let their actions speak louder than their words. A person of meek attitude can come from any social strata. However, I believe that Jesus, more times than not, found the meek in the lower echelon of society and he repeatedly used them to set examples for all of us to follow.

Application: We should follow the examples of the meek that Jesus set before us.

Prayer: Father, help me to conduct myself in a meek and humble manner. Help me to stand strong in you when necessary and give me the ability to lovingly share you with others. I ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen
