Scripture: Then God’s temple in heaven was opened, and within his temple was seen the ark of his covenant. And there came flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder, an earthquake and a severe hailstorm. Revelation 11:19 NIV
Observation: In John’s Revelation, the seventh angel is unveiling the woes and is about to unveil the third.
Application: Several years ago a movie was made about searching and finding the ark of the covenant. Christian archeologists have gone looking for biblical artifacts, many of which are impossible or nearly impossible to prove to exist. We, people, always seem to chase after things that are or seem to be unattainable. I’ve read through the bible repeatedly over the past thirty years and today I’ve noticed for the first time a truth that I’ve missed every time before and at the same time I solved Steven Spielberg’s question, “where is the ark of the covenant?” It’s in heaven with God! It can’t be hidden in Ethiopia or in a hole in the desert of Egypt. This passage clearly states that it comes back to earth when God’s temple in heaven is opened. Why do we always seem to have to search for a different truth? We, people, seem to seek God in everything except his Word! He’s in the trees, in animals, in our possessions, in our banks; he’s anywhere except in the truth of the bible. Much like searching for the ark of the covenant, maybe we need to start taking God’s word as truth and believe what is written within.
Prayer: Father, thank you for giving me a means to find you and understand who you are and what you did for me. I thank you in Jesus’ name. Amen
