It’s Faith, Not Deeds

Scripture: Mark my words! I, Paul, tell you that if you let yourselves be circumcised, Christ will be of no value to you at all. Again I declare to every man who lets himself be circumcised that he is obligated to obey the whole law. Galatians 5:2,3 NIV

Observation: Paul is teaching of the falseness of requiring circumcision.

Application: Here again Paul restated the futility of trying to be justified by acts and not faith. To me, verse two sums it up pretty clearly. Go ahead and be circumcised so that you will be “acceptably justified” before the Lord–but be prepared to live out every single written law. God knew the impossibility of that task so he gave up Jesus so that no longer would we be saddled with trying to cover all of our sacrificial bases.

Prayer: Father, thank you for giving me a way to live by faith not deeds. Amen
