“Xs” and “Ys”

Scripture: Yet not even Titus, who was with me, was compelled to be circumcised, even though he was a Greek. This matter arose because some false brothers had infiltrated our ranks to spy on the freedom we have in Christ Jesus and to make us slaves. Galatians 2:3,4 NIV

Observation: Paul’s letter to the church in Galatia speaks of the enslavement of the circumcision requirement.

Application: If anyone ever tells you that you have to believe in Jesus and “X” or believe in Jesus and “Y” you need to start listening to someone else. That’s what Paul was dealing with, false teachers that were saying “belief in Christ was a good start, now get circumcised.” All that Christianity takes is to believe in your heart that Jesus died as a sacrifice for your sin and then he rose and ascended into heaven. All of the “Xs” and “Ys” are a result of your changed heart and your desire to please and honor God.

Prayer: Father, thank you for sending Jesus for me. I pray on Jesus’ name that my “Xs” and “Ys” bless you and others. Amen
