I Want to be Known

The following is a S.O.A.P. entry from the Contrib section of my on-line bible authored by heypastorken and it is entitled “I Want to be Known.”

Scripture: “Some Jews who went around driving out evil spirits tried to invoke the name of the Lord Jesus over those who were demon-possessed. They would say, ‘In the name of the Jesus whom Paul preaches, I command you to come out.’ Seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, were doing this. One day the evil spirit answered them, ‘Jesus I know and I know about Paul, but who are you?’ Then the man who had the evil spirit jumped on them and overpowered them all. He gave them such a beating that they ran our of the house naked and bleeding.”  Acts 19:13-16

Observation: There were seven pastors kids of that day who were trying to cast out demons from people just as they had seen Paul doing. The demons replied by saying, ‘Who are you? Jesus and Paul we know, but who are you?’ The spirits then jumped on the seven sons and beat them.

Application: If I want to be used by God greatly, I need to know Jesus personally. My effectiveness for God is based upon my relationship with God and hearing from Him daily in the word. I need to be ready and willing to fight spiritual battles for God and be known in the spiritual realm because of what God is doing in me and through me. May I never think that it is all about me, but instead it is all about my relationship with Jesus and His blood and Spirit working through me.

Prayer: Father, I thank you for the time that you take to sit and meet with me. May our relationship grow more and more everyday. May I be open with you about what is happening in my life and sit at your feet and hear from you. Use me to do battle on your behalf, to advance Your Kingdom, and claim back Your people, by the power of Your Spirit, which is at work in me. I love you. In Jesus name, Amen.
