Scripture: ‘For in him we live and move and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’ “Therefore since we are God’s offspring, we should not think that the divine being is like gold or silver or stone–an image made by man’s design and skill. In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent. Acts 17:28-30 NIV
Observation: Paul is reasoning with and teaching the Greeks in Athens.
Application: For as long as I can remember, when salvation and belief in Christ has been the subject there has always been the question “what about the Old Testament people?” “What about the salvation of the people that never had a chance to know of Jesus?” Well, it looks like Paul has answered that question, “In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent.” Acts 17:30 NIV
*******Theologian Warning*******
I have no theological proof for the following statement, it is just my belief!
I believe that God will do what God will do. I also believe that he is just and he will judge justly. Those of us that have heard of and/or know Jesus will be held to a higher standard than people that never had the opportunity. I believe that God will deal with the Old Testament people and consider their ignorance when he judges them.
Prayer: Father, thank you for making a way of reconciliation to you through Jesus. Amen
