Tis the Season

Scripture: And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.  Luke 2:8-11 NIV

Observation: Luke relays the proclamation of Christ’s birth.

Application: Ahh…tis the season! Summer is coming to an end, school is in full-swing, and Christmas is just around the corner. When I read these passages from Luke today I just smiled to myself. The end of the year is approaching and the retelling and reading of the story of Christ will become more and more prevalent. What an awesome story to tell! God loved us so much that he brought his son Jesus to earth as a baby with the sole purpose of becoming a sacrifice for our sins. Not that we deserved it but that God loved us in spite of ourselves and wanted to atone for our sins so we could fellowship with him. Now that’s a story that just makes me smile!

Prayer: Father, thank you for giving Christ to me. I know that I don’t deserve it but I sure appreciate it and gladly accept it. I thank you in Jesus’ name. Amen
