Scripture: The king asked Daniel (also called Belteshazzar), “Are you able to tell me what I saw in my dream and interpret it?” Daniel replied, “No wise man, enchanter, magician or diviner can explain to the king the mystery he has asked about, but there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries. He has shown King Nebuchadnezzar what will happen in days to come. Your dream and the visions that passed through your mind as you lay on your bed are these: “As you were lying there, O king, your mind turned to things to come, and the revealer of mysteries showed you what is going to happen. Daniel 2:26-29 NIV
Observation: King Nebuchadnezzar gave Daniel the task of telling him what he, (the king), had dreamed and what it meant. If Daniel were to fail
at this all the wise men in the kingdom, including he and his three friends, would be put to death. Daniel was under tremendous pressure to produce a positive result. He never thought twice, the first thing he did was to ask of the Lord for he knew that was where his strength and wisdom had come from. When asked by the king if he had been successful, Daniel gave all the credit and glory to God in heaven. Only an all-knowing God could do what King Nebuchadnezzar had demanded.
Application: I know that often times I feel overwhelmed by life. This year has been especially stressful. I need to be more like Daniel. I need to seek first of God in all situations. His wisdom and his strength will give me the ability to cope and will comfort and ease the stressful times that I find myself in.
Prayer: Father, I need to be more of a Daniel in everyday life. I need to lean on you for understanding and strength to cope with life’s difficult situations. Help me to remember that you are where my strength comes from and to give you all the praise and glory and honor. I ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen
