Scripture: However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name. For it is time for judgment to begin with the family of God; and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who do not obey the gospel of God? 1 Peter 4:16,17 NIV
Observation: I understand these two passages to mean that Christian persecution is one of the final occurrences before Christ returns and ultimately all men stand before God and are judged.
Application: It’s pretty difficult to tell other Christians to expect and appreciate being persecuted for their faith. Based on today’s reading I believe that it is one of the final stages prior to Christ’s return. We all then, Christian and non-Christian alike will stand before the Lord and be judged. Verse 17 asks what will be the outcome for the unbelievers? We must pray for those that persecute us and continue the persevere in our faith.
Prayer: Father, I don’t enjoy being persecuted but I know that it will happen before you return. I ask that you forgive those that mistreat me and other Christians. I know that they operate out of ignorance. Let me to have a Christian, loving attitude with those that hate me. I ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen
