Discipline

Scripture: Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father? Hebrews 12:7 NIV

Observation: Paul instructs of God’s means of growing Christians in faith and endurance.

Application: Being a Christian is not without strife. Paul says right here that we will endure hardship, which is discipline. Knowing that should make the difficult times of life easier for us.

Prayer: Father, help me to remember that hard times are a time of discipline and growth for me as a Christian. Help me endure. I ask in Jesus’ name. Amen

And so it was with me, brothers and sisters. When I came to you, I did not come with eloquence or human wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God. For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. I came to you in weakness with great fear and trembling. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?
