Curb Your Tongue

Scripture: Avoid godless chatter, because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly. 2 Timothy 2:16 NIV

Observation: Paul teaches about avoiding gossip.

Application: Paul’s admonition to Timothy is a good reminder for us. The truth is that gossip isn’t just hurtful to others, the more we indulge in it the less Christlike we become. We can permanently damage our Christian walk if we gossip.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, I ask that you aid me in controlling my tongue. I know that gossip is harmful to others and that it damages relationships. I now realize that the most important relationship that I have can be ruined too. Help me to not take part in idle chatter and strengthen my relationship with you. I ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen
