Think on Things of the Lord

Scripture: Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things.  Philippians 4:8 NIV

Observation: Paul’s command to the Philippians about having the proper frame-of-mind.

Application: I recently went through a Sunday school class entitled “Knowing the Mind of Christ.” Yesterday our class was discussing peacemaking and conflict resolution. Today Philippians tells us to think on excellent or praiseworthy things…I think I’m seeing a pattern. I think the Lords wants me (us) to have a pure mind. Praise, worship, and peacemaking will follow.

Prayer: Lord, please help me to think on things that are worthy of you. When I do that there won’t be any room for any garbage if I fill my mind with only praiseworthy things. I ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen
