The following blog entry is compliments of Pastor Leon Hiebert, Community Care Pastor of Generations Church, Andover, KS
Scripture: …and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith. Philippians 3:9
Observation: “Christ in me” means that he is working out His righteousness through me. “Me in Christ” (found in him) means that I am totally counting on His righteousness to meet all of God’s demands upon me! In Christ, I am resting in His work to provide my righteousness. I possess it by faith, since there is no other way that I may obtain it. It rises far above the ability of my flesh to keep His holy law.
Application: God knew that if Leon was to be righteous, He would have to provide righteousness for Leon. Praise His Holy Name, He not only understood my need, but met it completely through Christ! Now I possess by faith what I could never earn through works. Now my work is motivated by love for Him rather than selfishly trying to earn something for myself. It’s all because of Him and it’s all for Him!
Prayer: Lord, …to bring you joy; to bring a smile to your face, to cause your heart to rejoice—its all for you! Amen.
