Unwholesome Speech Tears Down

Scripture: Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.  Ephesians 4:29 NIV

Observation: Wise words from Paul.

Application: Not only does bridling our tongue build others up it serves to maintain a peaceful atmosphere.  Speaking positively and encouragingly builds up; unwholesome talk tears others down and ultimately signals what is in our heart.  “But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these make a man ‘unclean.’ ”   Matthew 15:18 NIV

Prayer: Father, help me to guard my mouth and speak encouragement. I ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen
