Seek the Lord

Scripture: So give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong. For who is able to govern this great people of yours?” 1 Kings 3:9 NIV

Observation: King Solomon asks God to give him wisdom to rule Israel.

Application: How uncharacteristic of today’s leaders. Imagine if our elected leaders actually began their careers by seeking wisdom to govern from the Lord. The nation of Israel had never before nor since Solomon, seen such a time of peace and prosperity. I realize that a monarchy and a representative republic are different animals, but I believe that America would benefit greatly if our leaders would humbly seek the Lord.

Prayer: Father, I ask for wisdom in my life and I ask that America’s leaders seek your will. “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”  2 Chronicles 7:14 Amen
