Fulfill the Commission

Scripture: Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”.
Matthew 28:18-20 NIV

Observation: The great commission is given by Jesus to his disciples.

Application: This is our responsibility, to take Jesus’ message to all the world and to make followers of the Lord. Pray that your words, deeds, and life line up so that you fulfill this command and you are not a hinderance to Christ’s call.

Prayer: Father, I pray that I live my life as a Christian before men. I pray that my words and deeds always line up so that I fulfill your commission. I pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen

  1. “…and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”

What do you think that means? Teaching them to “obey” ??? OBEY what??? Do you OBEY??? Can you find one verse in the Bible that tells you to gave your heart to the lord?
Don’t be DECEIVED, my dear brothers (James 1:16, NIV).

    1. I’m not following your question. Are you asking me if I obey and if not, do I have to right to share that bit of scripture that says we are to obey? Yes, I do my best to obey. Yes, I have to share that scripture because that is what the scripture means to me. I am to share that truth and therefore I am “obeying.” Do I fail to obey? Yes! Does that change the fact that I am to obey and share truth? No, certainly not.
I also don’t understand if you are claiming that I am deceiving others or if I am being deceived. My intention is to never lead anyone astray. If I have done that it has been unintentional. I do believe that within the context of this blog, I have the right to express my understanding of scripture. If I am interpreting a passage I try to make it clear the it is “MY” belief. I also make every effort to disclaim statements that I may make in an effort to ensure that the reader knows that it is my thought.
In either case, I am trying to share God’s truth with others as I understand it and I am not trying to be controversial. If I offended you I apologize.
