Scripture: We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. 2 Corinthians 5:20 NIV
Observation: Christ’s reason for coming to earth is found at the end of this passage.
Application: “Be reconciled to God.” Yesterday my wife wrote a blog entry that spoke of this very fact. She stated that “from the beginning God tried many methods of loving discipline to help us find our focus.” I believe she is correct. God gave; we would take and forsake. God wants us to be with him. He wants us so much that he sent Jesus to reconcile us. She further stated that in a hypothetical conversation between God and Jesus, “God laid out his plan for redemption and the sacrifice that would have to be made by Christ.” What a difficult conversation that must have been for Christ to take part in. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16 NIV This was God’s final solution to deal with problem children. Thank God for his love and patience.
Prayer: Lord, thank you so much for having a “difficult discussion” with Jesus on my behalf. Thank you for loving me so much that you sent him to be the sacrifice to reconcile me back to you. I love you and I thank you in the name of Jesus. Amen
