Scripture: Appoint Aaron and his sons to serve as priests; anyone else who approaches the sanctuary must be put to death.” Numbers 3:10 NIV
Observation: God is instructing Moses about the Aaron’s son’s responsibilities at the tabernacle. He warns that only they may go near the tabernacle.
Application: “you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.” 1Peter 2:5 NIV When Christ became our path to God, Peter says that we, Christian believers, are now priests to the world. We no longer risk death by approaching the “temple;” we gain life. Christ said “…Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days.” John 2:19 NIV, I believe that he literally called himself the temple (tabernacle), the means of accessing God. Because God said that only priests were to go near the tabernacle (temple) and Christ is our tabernacle, we are his priests and ambassadors to the world. Now we are to “…Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.” Mark 16:15 NIV We have been given the gift of eternal life by believing in Christ now we must go and share it with others.
Prayer: Lord, when I go out and speak of you, make my words your words. Amen
