“…Whatever is Pure…”

Scripture: The voice spoke to him a second time, “Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.”  Acts 10:15 NIV

Observation: The Lord is telling Peter that He has deemed previously unclean animals now clean.

Application: Peter, being the righteous, law-abiding Jew that he was cried out to God that he would never and had never eaten anything unclean. God explained to Peter that He was creator of all things and if He now said something was clean, it was a settled matter.  How often do we question our worthiness to be called Christians?  Unfortunately we all have memories. We remember our pasts and the people that we were before Christ. Often times that causes us to question our purity, our “cleanness.” We must hold on to the truth of Acts 10:15 and stop calling impure what God has purified. When our memories haunt us, we must know that it is Satan trying to cause damage to out relationship with the Lord. We need to order Satan to leave and we need to think on “…whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.”  Philippians 4:8 NIV. God made you pure, believe it!

Prayer: Father, when my memories cause me distress help me to remember that you cleansed me of that filth. I know that Satan is reminding me of my failings and I need to order him gone and think on things of you. Thank you for loving me. Amen
